I came to a realisation about my life: when I think I am relaxing or resting, I'm not; I'm thinking about all the things I need to do or I'm looking at my phone, or I am distracted by other things. I am not truly resting and giving my body and mind a break.
Why is this important for you?
Your body and mind need to completely wind down for restoration and recovery. Looking at your phone at Tik Tok, Instagram, Whats App, etc are keeping your mind alert. Your nervous system remains vigilant, even after a busy day at work or with your family. Your body could be tense, in pain, stressed, because you aren't giving yourself time to be at peace.
If you resonnate with this scenario, what can you do?
Self awareness is the first important step. Take some time out to notice what's happening in your body: where do you feel tension; what's going on in your mind right now?
Actions: Self-compassion always. Don't judge yourself harshly, but lovingly give your nervous system what it wants - nourishment: true rest, deep breaths, stretching, gentle exercise, reading a book - are all examples of nourishment and honouring your amazing mind and body.
Allow yourself to be without judgement. Always doing isn't good for any one of us.
