A limiting belief, as the name suggests, is a belief you hold that limits you in some way. It may be a belief that affects your confidence or self esteem, or view of life, and it isn't always easy to identify.
Examples:
I can't take up painting because I can't draw.
I can't change my job because I am too old.
I can't take up a new hobby because I don't have time.
I can't start my own business because I don't have any experience.
These beliefs are not facts. They come from your mind (your self critic), and ideas that have been formed for a variety of reasons and time.
Action:
Next time you want to do something, see what your first thought is - if it's a negative response, you have caught a limiting belief. Well done for noticing this!
